As we “fall back” and gain an extra hour with the end of Daylight Saving Time this November, it’s more than just a chance to sleep in. It’s the perfect moment to reset your home and your habits. Think about it: when the clocks change, so do our routines. The days get shorter, evenings come faster, and many of us find ourselves spending more time indoors. This shift is the ideal excuse to cozy up (aka hygge) your space and make it work smarter for your fall and winter lifestyle.
Whether you're in overcast Seattle, or sunny Los Angeles, here are a few ways to use that “extra” hour to jumpstart your home organization:

1. Edit One Space
Choose a drawer, cabinet, or even your entryway to declutter. What no longer serves you this season? Let it go. Clear space makes room for ease and holiday magic, even if it's little by little.
PRO TIP: For drawers, clear "acrylic" plastic tray/divider sets help corral items in kitchen, bathroom, office, kids desk, etc. These kinds of products are consistently recommended in “best organizers” round‑ups.
ECO SWAP: Prefer an environmentally-friendly version? Check out this natural bamboo set!

2. Seasonal Swap
If you haven't yet, it's due time to trade beach towels for blankets. Rotate your wardrobe, pantry, or linen closet for the colder months ahead. Plus, it keeps your spaces current and your morning routine smoother!
PRO TIP: For small spaces, rotating your wardrobe seasonally can be challenging. Using smart space-savers like under the bed storage and vacuum seal bags will not only help store things easier, but will keep your clothing dust-free!
ECO SWAP: There's a small price to pay to protect the planet, but these eco-upgrades are options that will last and bring an elevated and luxurious feeling to any room.

3. Reset Routines
Use this natural shift to tweak your daily habits. Want to meal prep more? Make your kitchen more functional. Struggling with morning chaos? Set up a “launch pad” by the door.
PRO TIP: When you're spending more time indoors, making your kitchen and cleaning supplies more accessible is key. Lower cabinet areas can become a kitchen accessory, appliance, and food storage graveyard if the space is too deep. Installing easy pullout shelves can help you see everything you have without taking out. Every. Single. Item.
ECO SWAP: Premium wood cabinet organizers take a little more work during the installation process, but are so worth it once installed, giving you ease of use an aesthetic enhancement.

4. Lighting & Mood
With sunlight disappearing earlier, now’s the time to organize your lamps, candles, and cozy lighting. A well-lit home feels warm and welcoming during darker months.
PRO TIP: Keeping lighting design in mind and strategically placing light sources throughout your home can make a space feel warmer and more put together. Put wireless and rechargeable light strips or pucks in your closets and cabinets to not only see all that you have, but to create ambient zones to enjoy.
ECO SWAP: A sustainable swap for centerpieces and around the house are pretty eco-container candles. (Note: DO NOT put lit candles near any fabrics or inside enclosed cabinets)

5. Schedule a Home Reset Day
Mark your calendar. Dedicate a day (or even just an hour) to get your home back to baseline. Put on a playlist and reset your space with intention.
PRO TIP: Body doubling (having someone in the space with you) has been proven to motivate and make you more efficient while getting those things that you've been putting off done.
